Working atmosphere on board "Baltic Performer"

At the end of last year, representatives of the Kaliningrad Territorial Organization of the Seafarers’ Union of Russia (KTO SUR) visited the vessel "Baltic Performer" (IMO 9016674, flag of the Bahamas) berthed for unloading in the Kaliningrad port.

According to Lyudmila Izmalkova, KTO SUR Chair, the vessel arrived from Brazil loaded with meat, which is now unloaded in portions and sent to local meat processing plants. Then, the vessel will be loaded with finished products with a destination to St. Petersburg.

She noted that this is the first time such a logistics scheme is tested. The entire crew of "Baltic Performer" are experienced Russian seafarers working for the company during their third or fourth contract. The crew consists of seafarers from Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Samara, Novorossiysk and Kaliningrad. They were recruited through a St. Petersburg-based crewing agency.

There is a collective agreement on board the vessel, which has been extended until November 2025, - Lyudmila Izmalkova added. — In particular, the AB Seaman salary is $2,100 according to the document. Also, the KTO SUR Chair noted that although the seafarers sign contracts for a period of 6 (+/-2) months, most crew members have the opportunity to change after 4 or 5 months: there are no problems with repatriation as the vessels often enter the Russian ports. KTO SUR congratulated the Russian crew on the past holidays and presented the seafarers with calendars, trade union magazines and gifts.
